With 20 years of experience helping patients feel better and achieve a higher quality of life, Dr. Janak A. Parikh has a broad and unique skillset. He hails from Los Angeles, CA, and worked as a general surgeon specializing in liver and pancreatic surgery in Detroit, MI, for seven years before pivoting to a focus in plastic surgery. Dr. Parikh joined Town & Country Plastic Surgeons & Medspa in 2024, eager to grow with the practice and serve its wonderful, diverse community. With extensive experience in performing complex, life-saving surgeries, Dr. Parikh brings a level of expertise and precision that gives his patients confidence they are in the best hands for their care.

Passionate About Excellence in Surgery
Dr. Parikh has a multifaceted history in terms of both medical education and experience. His training started in general surgery at UCLA Medical Center. He then completed an organ transplant fellowship at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago and a hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) fellowship at Indiana University Medical Center. He underwent rigorous and comprehensive examinations to become board-certified in general surgery, which he has maintained since 2012.
After serving the suburbs of Detroit for seven years, Dr. Parikh made the decision to transition from general surgery to plastic surgery after discovering a deep passion for abdominal wall reconstruction. He found great fulfillment in not only restoring function but also helping patients regain their confidence and become the best versions of themselves. The opportunity to combine artistry with healing is what ultimately inspired Dr. Parikh to make the switch to plastic surgery.
In 2020, he moved to Houston to train in Plastic Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital. With his extensive and specialized experience, Dr. Parikh brings meticulous surgical skills as well as broad and robust medical knowledge to his plastic surgery patients.

In every capacity and professional appointment he has held, Dr. Parikh maintains a medical philosophy that prioritizes the patient’s safety, careful treatment plan, and satisfaction. This medical philosophy informs his every action as a surgeon, from taking his time with patients during consultations to his attentive bedside manner. He understands that surgery can bring up feelings of anxiety for patients and does his best to ensure each of his patients is comfortable in his care.

Dr. Parikh firmly believes in customizing each procedure to align with the individual goals of his patients. He also emphasizes the importance of comprehensive, holistic care, creating tailored preoperative and postoperative plans to ensure the best possible recovery and results for each patient.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Parikh loves spending time with his wife and two boys. His hobbies include participating in sports like tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, and cricket. He also enjoys traveling, cooking, and wine. He speaks English, Spanish, and Gujarati.

Dr. Parikh graduated magna cum laude and with Departmental Honors with a degree in Biochemistry from UCLA. He went on to complete his medical degree at UCSD.

After finishing medical school, Dr. Parikh trained in general surgery at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine. He completed a multi-organ abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at Northwestern School of Medicine and another fellowship in hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine.
After serving as a general and hepatobiliary surgeon for seven years, he decided to change to a career in plastic surgery. He completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Parikh has been board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery since 2012. He is also certified in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS).

Dr. Parikh has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and given various presentations in his areas of focus, including pancreatic surgery and microsurgical breast reconstruction.

Dr. Parikh specializes in aesthetic surgery procedures. His favorite procedures include facelifts, neck lifts, blepharoplasty, abdominoplasty, breast augmentation, breast lift, revision breast surgery, and awake liposuction.
To ensure his patients always receive the highest standards of care, Dr. Parikh stays abreast of the latest surgical techniques and technological developments. Some of his latest research efforts include investigating the prevention of infection in tissue expander-based breast surgery, as well as creating strategies for approaching autologous breast reconstruction.
