Laser Hair Removal Houston and Lake Jackson, TX
Here at ReNew You MD Medical Spa, we use the Candela and Sciton lasers for laser hair removal, widely considered the gold standard in laser hair removal technology. These work on all skin and hair types and are designed with the goal of reducing unwanted hair safely and effectively. Our team can perform laser hair removal at either our Houston or Lake Jackson offices, and it is one of the most widely performed spa procedures.
When To Consider It
Often, Houston and Lake Jackson patients pursue laser hair removal for personal reasons, finding excess body hair unsightly or embarrassing. Another reason can be for more lifestyle convenience, to cut down on use of other hair removal methods like shaving or waxing, which can be hard on the skin, not to mention tiring and time-consuming. Laser removal reduces hair growth, and over time, can permanently reduce the amount of hair on the body. This treatment can be used on any part of the body, including arms, legs, face, underarms and bikini lines.
What To Expect
Several treatments of laser hair removal are always needed. This is due to the way hair grows, in a three-phase cycle. The length of the cycle depends on the individual. The laser uses light energy to target the pigment of new growing hair within the hair follicles, damaging them and resulting in the hair falling out during the cycle. Since not all of your hair is in the same part of the cycle at the same time, usually up to 6 or 8 treatments are needed to catch all of the hair in its most susceptible growth phase.
Best results are typically seen on light skin with dark hair, as the pigment contrast makes the laser targeting most effective. However, dark skin or light hair also can be subject to laser hair removal, although it may take more treatments or different types of treatments. Our lasers are the safest, least-damaging option available for Houston and Lake Jackson patients. During the procedure, intermittent pulses of light energy are passed over the skin, hitting the hair follicles and damaging them so that any current hair falls out, while new hair does not regrow.
What Happens Afterward
There is typically no pain involved in the procedure, although Houston and Lake Jackson patients can report some redness and sensitivity on their skin afterward. A topical cream or sunscreen may be recommended by our skilled, professional staff to ease any effects. Regrowth of some hair is to be expected as dormant hair follicles cycle through their stages of growth. Over time, less body hair and smoother skin will be evident as more treatments take place and affect more of the desired areas.
