About Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is a procedure that can refine the shape and fullness of the breasts to improve their aesthetic appearance. This procedure can address concerns relating to asymmetry, volume loss, or even a disproportionate appearance across the chest. Our surgeons, Dr. Yarish and Dr. Parikh, can perform breast augmentation procedures using both breast implants and autologous fat grafting.
Breast Implants
Breast implants are medical devices that we place in the chest to augment the shape and volume of your breasts. Modern breast implants are typically composed of either silicone or saline, and they can additionally vary in size, shape, and cohesion. (2) This wide range of implant options allows your surgeon to effectively tailor your procedure according to each of your personal goals.
Fat Grafting
Fat grafting transfers fat from one area of your body to another to enhance its appearance. Plastic surgeons use autologous fat across several different aesthetic and reconstructive procedures due to its high biocompatibility and availability, as well as its natural-looking and feeling results. (3) This technique is ideal if you want a subtle or modest increase or are uninterested in the use of implants.
Available Breast Implants
Breast implants come in a variety of materials, shapes, and sizes, allowing you to customize your procedure to achieve your ideal chest. During your personal consultation, your surgeon will help you determine the best pair of implants for your anatomy and aesthetic goals. The type of implants you receive will vary, as no two women are alike, so neither will their procedures be. At Town & Country, we specifically use Mentor™ breast implants to restore the natural shape and contours of your breasts.
Implant Materials
At Town & Country, we offer both gummy bear implants and saline implants.
- Gummy Bear Implants (Cohesive Silicone Gel): Gummy bear implants are a specific type of silicone implant that encapsulate a viscous silicone gel inside a silicone shell. These implants hold their form even if they are cut or punctured, offering results that remain durable for years.
- Saline Implants: Saline implants consist of a silicone shell filled with a sterile saltwater solution. Your surgeon can place saline implants into the chest empty and fill them afterwards, offering a greater degree of variability and customization. (1)
Implant Shape
We employ round implants for breast augmentation. Round implants provide an even fullness at the top of the breast (the upper pole) as well as the lower breast (the lower pole). These implants provide a more lifted, curvier look that can greatly improve your cleavage. However, if you prefer fullness at the lower pole of the breasts or desire a natural slope, our surgeons can help you select a suitable implant size and incorporate specialized techniques to achieve your desired bust.
Candidates
You may be a suitable candidate for breast augmentation if you are interested in refining the shape, size, symmetry, and volume of your breasts. This procedure can effectively address aesthetic concerns, correct congenital differences, or reconstruct your breasts after undergoing a mastectomy. (1)
To qualify for breast augmentation, you should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding what this procedure can achieve. You should also be nonsmoking or willing to quit using nicotine entirely. Dr. Yarish and Dr. Parikh will determine your candidacy during your personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, either Dr. Yarish or Dr. Parikh will meet with you individually to determine your candidacy and craft your treatment plan. They will discuss what breast augmentation entails, the different techniques available, and the differences between certain types of implants. They will ask you about your medical history, personal goals, and desired outcomes to better understand your needs, as well as perform a physical evaluation. Your surgeon will then use these details to create a tailored solution that can help you reshape and resculpt your chest with ease.
If you are ready to start transforming the appearance of your chest, please schedule a consultation online or call (979) 217-2382.
Preparation
After you have scheduled your breast augmentation, you will need to begin making certain preparations. Your surgeon will provide a set of detailed preoperative instructions to help you. They may advise you to:
- Refrain from taking any medications or supplements that may thin your blood.
- Prepare transportation to and from your procedure.
- Request time away from your career, social commitments, and other responsibilities.
- Discontinue any nicotine use in the weeks leading up to your procedure and continue your abstinence until you have recovered.
- Fill any prescriptions ahead of time.
- Avoid alcohol consumption in the days before and after your appointment.
Procedure
Both Dr. Yarish and Dr. Parikh perform breast augmentation procedures in our surgical center. The duration of your procedure will vary depending on the surgical techniques your surgeon is performing, as well as the complexity of your corrections, but you can expect your appointment to last between one and two hours.
Your surgeon will begin your procedure by cleansing your skin before administering general anesthesia to ensure you are comfortably asleep. They will then perform breast augmentation using implants or fat grafting techniques.
Implant Breast Augmentation
Your surgeon will place an incision using the inframammary approach. This “gold standard” incision technique extends horizontally across the fold that sits beneath your breast, or the inframammary fold (IMF). This incision placement is the most common and allows your surgeon to precisely control where they place your implants, hides scarring, and optimizes symmetry between the breasts.
Once your surgeon places the incision, they will create a pocket for your implant to rest in. They may make this pocket submuscularly or subglandularly. Submuscular placement means your implant will sit beneath the pectoralis muscle, while subglandular placement places the implant in front of the muscle. (1) Your surgeon will then place your implant into the pocket and secure it within your chest. They will then carefully suture each incision before allowing you to rest.
Fat Grafting Breast Augmentation (Natural Breast Augmentation)
When performing this procedure, your surgeon will first inject the donor fat with a tumescent solution. This is a specialized solution blends lidocaine, epinephrine, and saline to further numb your tissues, minimize bleeding, and swell the fat cells to make them easier to remove. (4) Your surgeon will then use a suctioning cannula to break down and remove the fat from the donor area, leaving it more slender and toned. Many patients choose to pull fat from their abdomen, flanks, or thighs
Your surgeon will process your fat to purify it and ensure that they only readminister the healthiest cells. From there, they will inject the fat into your breasts, carefully layering it to refine their sculpt and volume. After they sculpt your desired appearance, the Town & Country team will care for you until you are ready to return home.
Recovery
After your breast augmentation, you will need to take time away from your responsibilities and commitments to focus on your recovery. You may return to light activities and desk work after approximately five to seven days. However, you will need to continue avoiding any strenuous or demanding activities for another four to six weeks, or until your surgeon approves your return.
Throughout your recovery, you may experience some swelling, bruising, or tenderness across your breasts. These effects will subside on their own as you continue to heal, but you may manage them using a cold compress, prescribed medications, and plenty of rest. Your surgeon will also provide you with a compression bra to help prevent further swelling and maintain the new contours of your breasts.
Your surgeon will provide a full set of postoperative instructions during your consultation so you understand how to care for yourself as you heal. By following each one, you can ensure a quick recovery and astounding results.
Results
You may notice immediate improvements in the appearance of your chest, but you will be able to enjoy the full results of your breast augmentation once any residual swelling resolves. Initially, you may feel as if your implants sit too high on the chest, but they will slowly settle into a more natural position over time.
Your breasts will appear fuller, more symmetrical, and voluminous, each of which can contribute to a more attractive and flattering figure. Your renewed curves may also improve the proportions between your breasts and body, creating a more balanced appearance.
The results of breast augmentation are long-lasting, with many of Dr. Yarish’s and Dr. Parikh’s patients enjoying their enhancements for several years to come. However, breast implants are not lifetime devices, and you should check them regularly to ensure their health and well-being.

FAQ
Will I be able to breastfeed after undergoing breast augmentation?
You may be able to breastfeed depending on the surgical techniques that your surgeon performs. Most of their techniques keep the milk duct intact and functional, but we still ask that you discuss any breastfeeding plans during your consultation so that they may tailor your procedure accordingly.
What type of breast implants do you offer?
At Town & Country, we use Mentor™ breast implants to recontour the chest, with choices between gummy bear implants and saline implants. Gummy bear implants contain a cohesive silicone gel, while saline implants are filled with a sterile saline solution.
Will breast augmentation address my sagging breasts?
Breast augmentation will not entirely address sagging breasts. While implants can restore some volume to your breasts, they cannot correct significant drooping, tighten your skin, or reposition your nipples. If you wish to address sagging skin, we recommend undergoing a breast lift or a breast augmentation with lift.
How long will my implants last?
Breast implants can last for up to ten years after placement. We advise regularly checking them to ensure their health and well-being.
How will I know which breast augmentation technique is right for me?
During your personal consultation, your surgeon will assess your medical history, personal concerns, and desired appearance to determine whether fat grafting or breast implants are right for you. If your treatment plan includes breast implants, they will also help you find the best pair of implants for your figure.
Can my surgeon combine my breast augmentation with another procedure?
Yes, your surgeon can combine breast augmentation with another aesthetic procedure or treatment to refine your results or address other areas of your figure within a single appointment. We recommend scheduling a consultation to learn more and receive personalized recommendations based on your aesthetic goals.
