Gynecomastia Surgery
Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Houston and Lake Jackson, TX

When your chest reflects the man you are, everything else falls into place.
Gynecomastia affects more men than most realize, yet it remains one of the most personal and sensitive concerns we treat. Whether you developed enlarged breast tissue during adolescence that never resolved, or noticed changes later in life due to hormonal shifts, the impact extends far beyond physical appearance.
At Town & Country Plastic Surgeons + Medspa, we understand what men rarely talk about: the years spent avoiding pools, the refusal to take off a shirt at the beach, and the closet full of loose, dark clothing designed to hide your contours.
It’s time to stop letting this condition dictate your choices. Led by Dr. Scott Yarish and Dr. Janak Parikh, our male breast reduction protocols effectively eliminate excess tissue to restore the flat, masculine chest you deserve.

Understanding Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is not a result of “being overweight”—it is a medical condition characterized by the proliferation of glandular tissue or excess fat. It can be caused by:
- Hormonal Changes: Often beginning in puberty when estrogen levels temporarily rise.
- Aging: Natural dips in testosterone levels as men get older.
- Medications: Certain antibiotics, heart medications, anti-anxiety drugs, and chemotherapy.
- Medical Conditions: Thyroid issues or kidney disease.
Because this is a medical condition, diet and exercise often fail to resolve it. If the tissue is glandular, no amount of bench pressing will make it disappear. Surgery is often the only effective solution.
Am I A Candidate?
You may be an ideal candidate for male breast reduction if you identify with these experiences:
- You avoid fitted clothing or constantly adjust your shirt to hide your chest.
- You feel self-conscious in locker rooms, gyms, or intimate situations.
- You have puffy nipples or breast asymmetry that persists despite a healthy lifestyle.
- You are physically healthy and at a stable weight.
The Procedure
We do not use a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Depending on your anatomy, we will utilize one or a combination of the following techniques:
Liposuction (Fat Removal)
- Best For: Men whose enlargement is primarily due to excess fatty tissue (Pseudogynecomastia).
- The Technique: Using small, discreet incisions, we use advanced liposuction to suction away the fat and sculpt the chest for better definition.
- Recovery: Minimal downtime and less invasive.
Tissue Excision (Gland Removal)
- Best For: Men with hard, rubbery glandular tissue located directly behind the nipple-areola complex.
- The Technique: A precise incision is made (typically along the border of the areola) to physically remove the gland. This is often necessary to reduce “puffy nipples.”
Combination Approach
- Best For: Most patients.
- The Technique: We combine liposuction to contour the general chest area with direct excision to remove the dense gland, ensuring a smooth, flat, and natural result.
Recovery
Surgery is just one part of the process. We offer a Comprehensive Rejuvenation Concept designed to prepare your body for surgery and speed up healing afterward.
What to Expect:
- Immediate Results: You will see a visible difference immediately, though swelling will be present.
- Downtime: Most men return to work or school within 5–7 days.
- Garments: You will wear a compression vest for a few weeks. This is critical for minimizing swelling and helping the skin retract smoothly over your new chest contour.
- Activity: Light activity can resume in a few days. Strenuous chest exercises (like weightlifting) should be avoided for 4–6 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the results look natural?
Absolutely. Our goal is not to create an “operated on” look, but to restore the natural masculine contours that should have been there all along. Most patients tell us friends notice they look “fitter” but cannot pinpoint exactly why.
What about scarring?
We place incisions in natural shadows or along the border of the areola (where pigment changes), making them virtually undetectable once healed.
Is the result permanent?
Yes. Once the glandular tissue is removed, it cannot grow back. However, significant weight gain or the use of certain performance-enhancing drugs can cause remaining fat cells to expand.
