Tummy Tuck

Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Houston and Lake Jackson, TX

When your body finally reflects the work you’ve put in, everything falls into place.

You have done the hard work. Whether through massive weight loss, years of disciplined fitness, or simply overcoming the natural changes of aging, you have demonstrated real commitment. Yet, for many men, stubborn pockets of fat, loose skin, and separated muscles prevent the mirror from reflecting that dedication.

At Town & Country Plastic Surgeons + Medspa, we specialize in Male Abdominoplasty. Unlike the curves sought in female surgery, our techniques are strictly designed to restore a flat, athletic, and masculine torso. We remove the barriers—loose skin and diastasis recti—that no amount of crunches or cardio can fix.

The Male Difference: Surgical Expertise

Male tummy tucks require a fundamentally different artistic approach than those performed on women. A generic approach can lead to a feminized, “hourglass” silhouette that looks unnatural on a man.

Our Male-Specific Techniques:

  • Straighter Scars: We place incisions lower and flatter to align with masculine underwear lines, avoiding the curved “smiley face” incision often used for women.
  • Athletic Contouring: Instead of cinching the waist, we focus on sharpening the obliques and flanks to preserve a strong V-taper.
  • Masculine Umbilicus: We reshape the belly button to look rugged and natural, avoiding the circular, “operated-on” look.

Which Procedure is Right for You?

We customize the surgery based on the amount of excess skin and your specific goals.

Mini Tummy Tuck

  • Best For: Men with a “pooch” of fat and loose skin located only below the belly button.
  • The Procedure: A shorter incision is made to tighten the lower abdominal muscles and remove the small skin overhang. The belly button is usually not repositioned.
  • Recovery: Faster return to work and activity.

Complete (Full) Tummy Tuck

  • Best For: Men with significant loose skin both above and below the navel, often due to weight loss or aging.
  • The Procedure: Addresses the entire abdominal wall. We tighten the separated muscles (diastasis recti) from the rib cage to the pubic bone and remove the full apron of excess skin.
  • Result: A completely flat, firm abdominal profile.

Extended Tummy Tuck

  • Best For: Patients with significant skin laxity that wraps around the hips (“love handles”).
  • The Procedure: The incision extends further laterally onto the flanks. This allows us to contour not just the front of the abdomen, but also the waist and hips, eliminating the “muffin top” effect.

Fleur-de-Lis Tummy Tuck

  • Best For: Massive weight loss patients who have excess skin in both vertical and horizontal directions.
  • The Procedure: In addition to the standard horizontal incision, a vertical incision is made up the center of the abdomen. This allows for the maximum removal of skin for a tighter torso.

Am I A Candidate?

This procedure is a finishing touch, not a weight-loss method. You may be an ideal candidate if:

  • Post-Weight Loss: You have lost the weight, but the skin hasn’t snapped back.
  • Fitness Plateau: You are fit and active, but have a genetic “spare tire” or muscle separation that exercise cannot fix.
  • Stable Weight: You are at or near your goal weight and have maintained it for at least 6 months.
  • Non-Smoker: Nicotine significantly increases the risk of complications; you must be nicotine-free for at least 4 weeks prior to surgery.

Recovery & What to Expect

The Timeline

  • Surgery Day: Most patients go home the same day. You will need someone to drive you.
  • The First Week: You will walk slightly hunched over to protect the incision. Drains may be used to prevent fluid buildup; these are typically removed within a week.
  • Return to Work: Most men return to desk jobs within 10–14 days.
  • Exercise: Light walking is encouraged immediately. Heavy lifting and core workouts must be avoided for 6–8 weeks to allow the muscle repair to heal.

Managing Your Results Scarring is inevitable, but we prioritize placement that can be hidden by swim trunks. We provide a comprehensive scar care protocol—including silicone therapy and massage—to ensure your scars fade to faint white lines over time.

Safety & Risks (Helpful Content)

As with any major surgery, there are risks, though complications are rare in healthy non-smokers.

  • Common: Temporary numbness, swelling, and bruising.
  • Rare: Infection, poor wound healing (necrosis), or fluid accumulation (seroma).
  • Prevention: Choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon and strictly following post-op instructions regarding rest and garment wear is your best defense against complications.
