Dermaplaning is a non-invasive physical exfoliation procedure. Unlike chemical peels that use acids to dissolve skin cells, dermaplaning uses a sterile, medical-grade surgical scalpel.

Your licensed aesthetic provider gently glides the blade across the skin at a precise 45-degree angle. This motion effectively removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells along with fine facial hair, leaving your skin incredibly soft and smooth without the use of harsh chemicals or lasers.

1. Preparation Your skin is thoroughly cleansed and dried to remove surface oils.

2. The Treatment Your provider holds your skin taut and uses feather-light strokes to exfoliate the face. Most patients compare the sensation to a gentle scratching or the feeling of shaving legs—it is not painful. The entire process takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

3. The Finish We finish the treatment with a hydrating moisturizer and a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your fresh skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?

No.

This is the most common myth we hear. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair (peach fuzz), which has a different structure than terminal hair (like eyebrows or men’s beards). Your hair will grow back at the exact same texture, speed, and color as before.

Is there any downtime?

None. You may be slightly pink immediately after the treatment (similar to a post-workout flush), but this fades quickly. You can return to your daily activities immediately.

Who is the ideal candidate?

Dermaplaning is safe for almost all skin types. However, it is not recommended for those with active cystic acne, as the blade could nick a breakout and spread bacteria. If you have an active flare-up, we may recommend a chemical peel or facial first to clear the skin.
