For many men considering eyelid surgery, the biggest question is simple: Will it look obvious?

Men’s eyelids age differently than women’s. A successful result depends on preserving the features that define a masculine look.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

The Concern: Hooding or drooping skin that weighs down the eyes, sometimes even impairing peripheral vision (making driving or computer work difficult). The Fix: We remove excess skin and a small amount of fat through an incision hidden in the natural crease of the eyelid. Anesthesia: Typically performed under local anesthesia in our office for a quick, comfortable experience.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

The Concern: Chronic “bags,” puffiness, or deep hollows that make you look perpetually exhausted. The Fix: We remove or reposition the fat pads causing the bulge. Incisions are made either inside the eyelid (transconjunctival) or just below the lash line (subciliary), leaving virtually no visible scar. Anesthesia: Because this is more invasive, it is typically performed under general anesthesia.

Preparing for Surgery

To ensure the safest procedure and fastest recovery, we will guide you through a specific pre-operative plan:

Medical Review: We will review your history to ensure you are a good candidate.
Medications: You will need to avoid supplements and medications associated with bleeding (like aspirin or Vitamin E) for two weeks prior.
Lifestyle: Smoking must be stopped several weeks in advance to ensure proper healing.

Recovery: What to Expect

We understand you have professional responsibilities. Our protocols are designed to get you back to work quickly.

The Timeline:

Surgery Day: You will go home the same day. Keep your head elevated and use ice packs for the first 48 hours to minimize swelling.
First Few Days: You may experience temporary side effects like watery eyes, double vision, light sensitivity, or mild bruising. This is normal.
Return to Work: Most men feel ready to return to desk work within 3 to 5 days. (Many schedule their procedure on a Thursday or Friday to be back by Monday).
Full Results: While you will look refreshed within a week, final refinement occurs over 4–6 weeks as residual swelling vanishes.
